Behind the Scenes at Jean Georges

Last week the last At the Chef’s Table with Thomas Keller went live, so today we’re started a new round with Jean-Georges Vongerichten (our video editor practiced saying his name over and over).

Anyway, I was once again lucky enough to help out Daily Meal’s video editor Ali Rosen with the shoot, getting some sweet b-roll shots of the dining room and photographing the chef plating an egg caviar himself. He was one of our best interviews so far, meeting us personally at the door without a PR rep. Check out some of the behind the scenes shots below, and watch part one of our interview with chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten here.

In the Per Se Kitchen

Here’s part IV of our At the Chef’s Table interview with Thomas Keller, which I helped shoot with The Daily Meal’s video editor Ali Rosen. We didn’t get much b-roll shooting/filming time, so here’s one shot of the Per Se kitchen, which is by far one of the nicest kitchens I’ve been in.

Behind the Scenes at Le Bernardin with Eric Ripert

I was lucky enough to help The Daily Meal’s video editor Ali Rosen with At the Chef’s Table interview with Eric Ripert (camera number 2!), and afterwards got the chance to snap a few quick photos of the Le Bernardin chef plating a couple dishes.

There are four parts (!) to the in-depth interview, covering all sorts of things like why he started cooking and who inspired him and all that jazz. Watch it! It’s amazing (but sadly, he did not read us French poetry).

Here are some shots that worked out (it cracks me up that they use plastic spoons to drizzle the sauces).

Scenes from the Boston Common

One Scene, Two Ways

As mentioned before, I stayed with M over Thanksgiving, and her aunt lives right along water in Maryland. This dock? It’s literally steps away from their back door.

An incredibly warm Thanksgiving in Virginia

I had the luck to spend Thanksgiving with M, my college roommate, at her gorgeous home in Virginia. Just a couple shots of her backyard (!) with bright persimmon trees, her adorable puppy, and her mother’s Korean barbecue which makes me hungry just thinking of it.
